Uploading files confusion

Uploading files confusion

Oh my word, what a confusing website the USPTO is! Trying to upload the correct flies and give them the correct names within the guidelines. All those drop down choices though! Now i have yellow triangles, blue diamonds, red triangles!!!! geez these people are crazy.

Not sure if this screen shot will work, but here is the section I'm totally confused with.

Brad I don't suppose you have a video showing how to fill out the section that deals with uploading your files.?

Ah yes.  The USPTO website.  I guess if they made it super simple to use I would be out of a job   ;D

I would suggest you convert your files using a free program called PrimoPDF (make sure you only download the free version).
http://download.cnet.com/PrimoPDF/3000-18497_4-10264577.html?part=dl-10264577&subj=dl&tag=button

Once you have that downloaded and installed, you will "print" each file as a pdf document using primopdf as your printer.   This seems to work well with the USPTO.

Thanks
Brad

Actually Brad, I think that making the provisional application simpler would lead to more work. Most people aren't going to pay for a provisional application to be filed by an attorney, but once the provisional is filed and they need the non provisional to be filed within that year, then they will be more likely to look for an attorney. I know I will be.

Ok now I found all my problems. First off there are two different Sb cover letters. One is for mail in applications which I'm not sure, but I think I got the link from one of your youtube links. The other correct coverletter form is for using on the electronic filing website. Took a while to figure that one out!

The embedding problem I had was due to not having the text embedded on my word document. I eventually found out how to do that from a google search. There is an add on for word that allows you to save it as a PDF.

The last problem was the drawings. It was only when I re read it, after trying to re size it a number of times, that I realized what was wrong. They didn't want the file size changed, they were asking for the page size to be changed, which again after doing some research I found that my Adobe program had the artboard set at A3 and they required maximum A4.

So once those were done I finally got my provisional approved! I'm a patent pending inventor!!!
