Title: Patent and Non-Patent Citations
Post by: stan on August 23, 2015, 08:39:43 AM
I see in some patents there are Patent Citations and Non-Patent Citations at the end of the Patent text.

Question: Who provides those?

There is no field in the forms for Citations. Are the citations added by the reviewer or do we need to provide them?

Thanks,
Stan

Hi,

These are added by the patent office.  However, please note that you have the duty to tell the patent office about any patents or publications that are "material" or very close to your invention.  You must submit this through an "Information Disclosure Statement" or "IDS":   http://www.uspto.gov/sites/default/files/documents/sb0008a.pdf
