Do i need mechanical and wiring diagram/explination in my PPA

My invention serves as a safety device by using lights to warn people. Its also a communication device. Main priority is how it looks, how its used, where it used, and why its used. Sorry to be so vague, hard to explain it without giving it away. Let me know if you need more details

In my patent i have described its function and its features in great detail. The technology to make it work would not be complicated at all. So since its not a design patent and the design of the electrical parts is not what makes it unique, is it necessary to provide an electrical diagram and detail on how it will work technically/electrically?

If i don't have the info what am i loosing out on? Also I am licencing my idea so maybe when or if I get some serious talk from companies I could invest more money and file an additional PPA that includes the wiring  information... before letting them see the PPA.
I just dont wanna spend a lot of cash flow if A) I dont have to B) I might not even get any companies that wanna sell it.

If the actual electronic components are not new/different than you will probably be okay just listing these components out as a "block diagram" in a figure where each block represents a different component of the device such as a "power source" and "light element"  a "processor"  a   "memory unit",   etc.

Sorry to revive such an old post but my invention is similar to what the OP describes so you answer was very helpful.

However, I have a question regarding this type of invention.  What is actually being patented here?  Since the components are all prior art and not new is it the way that they are being combined, the result of the combination, or simply the idea?

Without actually seeing OPs invention it would likely be the unique combination of all the pieces plus how they work/interact with each other to accomplish a function.

For example, the concept of a cell phone case is known and the concept of a USB port is known, but combining the two and describing exactly where the USB port is located relative to the cell phone case and how they all can work together to accomplish the function of having a cell phone case act as USB port may be patentable (assuming nobody had proposed that before).   Sample patent we wrote and got allowed on something similar to this here:

Thanks Brad!  Your response cleared up a few things for me.  Of course, now I have another question.  The example you provided is somewhat simplistic in design, yet the PPA is pretty comprehensive.  My first thought is that my invention would require at least as much info.  It's not complex (all of the components are readily available) but the solution that it provides once these parts are combined and programmed (circuit board, modem, gps, etc) is unique.

So my question is, how far along does it need to be and what information is required for you to take over and prepare the PPA..or is that even recommended?  What I mean is, is it recommended that I take a shot at it first and then provide it to you for review or is there some amount of info that can be provided to you in order for you to prepare the PPA initially?

If we are only at the "provisional" stage you can probably get buy with some good hand drawings plus some block diagrams representing each part of the device (e.g. one block for the "GPS" and one block for the "modem").

The example I cited above was a full non-provisional so its a bit more detailed than our standard provisional.

Also, just so you and other people reading this know, at the moment we are not offering our review type package (which we call our Gold+ package).  I have found trying to review inventors work, give them feedback, teach them about the proper way to write, etc. takes as much (sometimes more) time than if I just wrote the whole thing myself.  For that reason we are not currently offering "reviews" but would happy to give you a quote to have us write and file ourselves using your material as a starting point.

If my schedule opens up in the future we may start doing reviews again so it never hurts to ask.
