Can the inventor still patent this invention in other countries?

Hello together,

i have a question referring to a patent that is already granted.

These are the dates:

Priority date 2016-01-05
Family: US
Status
2016-01-05
Active
2017-10-24 Grant

Now he holds the US patent for his invention, but can he still expand this patent to other countries, or is it too late?

What happens for example if someone in Europe uses his invention commercially and later he files an european patent?

Best wishes,

Arnold

It is too late to file in other countries.   You only have one year (12 months) from the first filing to file in different countries.

If someone sells the product in other countries I do not know of anyway to stop them using the patent system.
