What are the pros and cons for fast tracking a patent application?

What are the costs?

Is fast tracking always a good process to pursue?

I have had good results with Fast Track.  Usually you get your examination in just a few months vs. 18+ months with regular examination.  Cost for an inventor (micro entity) status is $1030 in addition to the standard fee of $430.  For a small company or small entity filer the cost is twice this amount.

I also think most of the examiners are included to help you get your application allowed faster if you are under fast track status so I think the allowance rate is higher but thats just my opinion and I don't have any data to back that up.
