Provisional Patent Drawings

Provisional Patent Drawings

When I create my Provisional Patent, am I allowed to use Photos in lieu of drawings?  Should I include photos at all in my Provisional Patent or wait until the final Patent?

Photos are okay for the provisional (but not ideal).  The patent rules say you should use black and white line drawings.   A good patent draftsman should be able to convert photos to proper patent drawings for about $30-$50 per photo.

In regards to provisional patent drawings can more than 3  be included with the provisional patent? Also if a patent has multiple parts that fit together how should they be shown? example separately or connected together?

Thanks,

Brad

You can have as many pages as you want but anything over 100 pages may have an extra fee.

I would show them both connected and "exploded view" which is what we call separated apart.
