I'm a possible descendant of Gustaf de Laval, if it turns out that this is true, is there a way to make money of some of his patents or something? I have no idea how any of this works.

Not really.

Patents only last for 20 years from the date they were filed and then they are free and available to the public to use.   So if you have an inventor from 100+ years ago there would be no valid patents left for you to use.
